Bodies recovered from river in Scotland confirmed as missing sisters

Eliza and Henrietta Huszti’s disappearance in January sparked a major search

Two bodies recovered from the River Dee are that of the missing sisters who
disappeared in Aberdeen, Police Scotland has confirmed.
Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, both aged 32, were last spotted on CCTV in the
city’s Market Street at Victoria Bridge at about 2.12am on Tuesday 7 January.
The women were seen crossing the bridge and turning right on to a footpath next
to the River Dee in the direction of Aberdeen Boat Club.
The siblings’ disappearance sparked a major Police Scotland operation, with the
force’s extensive searches of the River Dee coming to an end three weeks later

On the morning of Friday 31 January, a woman’s body was spotted and subsequently
recovered

from the water near to Queen Elizabeth Bridge.
At the time Police Scotland [https://news.sky.com/topic/scotland-5866] said
formal identification was yet to take place, but the family of Henrietta had
been informed.
At around 9.05pm that night, a second woman’s body

was found in an area of the river near to Victoria Bridge.

Again, formal identification was yet to take place, but the family of Eliza were
informed.
Police Scotland has now confirmed the bodies were those of the sisters.
Superintendent David Howieson said: “The two bodies recovered from the River Dee
on Friday 31 January 2025 have now been formally identified as Henrietta and
Eliza Huszti who were reported missing on Tuesday 7 January 2025.
“Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the exact cause of death however there
are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”

Investigating officers had previously said there had been “no evidence” of the
women leaving the immediate area and there had been nothing to suggest
“suspicious circumstances or criminality”.
The police revealed that the sisters – who are part of a set of triplets and
originally from Hungary – visited the bridge where they were last seen about 12
hours before they disappeared

They also sent a text message to their landlady on the morning they vanished,
indicating they would not be returning to the flat.
